I had one in my 75 Jimmy and loved it. I think its just a little deaper duration, to increase torque, but all that math stuff gets past me. The ol' Jimmy wasn't fast, but he was a puller!
They sound cooler, too!
I have an 87 Suburban w a 350 Tbi and I've heard of some ppl saying something using a rv cam and I was wondering what exactly they mean and is this a good mod for towing? Where can I find one of these and is it worth the time and effort? (The upgrade)

RV cams are generally a different cam grind from factory, each manufacturer has a little different lift and duration they feel works best for a given engine operated in a given situation.
Contact some of the cam manufacturers and que them on your truck specs and how and where you operate your truck they should be able to better help you choose a cam that will work best for your situation.
You have to be careful with aftermarket cams, you could put in something that runs great upto a certain RPM then looses all torque, or end up with something that doesnt start generating power until the RPMs are real high.
Factory cams are a compromise in that they run well at most RPMs while returning decent fuel mileage and power.

So when ppl say rv cam, they are not meaning they took a cam out of Rv motor and swapped it into their truck? So then where can I find these rv cams and y do they call them rv cams if they don't come from an rv?
